Does Atheism Meet The Criteria To Be Classified As A Religion?

This program from Creation Magazine LIVE looks at the 7 criteria for determining whether a set of beliefs or disbeliefs can be classified as a religion. The presenters go on then to discuss these criteria in the context of Atheism to determine whether or not Atheism does actually meet the criteria to be called a religion. The discussion compares a number of other religions including Buddhism, Jainism, ancient sun worship, and Christianity.

I thought this was quite an interesting topic of discussion given that Atheism focuses around the premise of non-belief in a god. As mentioned by the presenters, neither Buddhism or Jainism have a belief in a god, yet they are classified as religions, so what makes Atheism different? Or is it actually a religion after all?

Who Am I?

Matt in Noumea

Matt works sort-of full time running his digital marketing business, TerraMedia. In his spare time though, he loves to travel with his wife, so they usually end up doing a lot of it.
Home is Australia, and while they don’t spend all their time travelling the world, Matt and his wife like to take the time to really explore and get to know a place, even if that means spending a lot longer there than normal tourists might.

You can read more about Matt and his story HERE.
