Destination: Singapore

The Lion City

Singapore, the major international hub that many of us kind-of visit by default, maybe, because of the number of international flights that are routed via Singapore Changi Airport. The name Singapore quite literally means Lion City, but this island country is also known as one of the Four Asian Tigers due to it’s rapid economic development into the extremely wealthy country it is today.

Layover Guide: Jewel Changi Airport

Even if you don’t leave the airport, a visit to Changi is unparalleled experience.

On short layovers, you can explore a desert-inspired cactus garden and butterfly forest garden, dine at a replica of the Singapore Food Street, or explore the many art installations and internal garden sanctuaries.

On longer layovers of 5 hours or more, head landside to explore the jaw-dropping Jewel, an enormous 10-storey tall indoor forest, shopping mall, restaurant and entertainment complex surrounding the HSBC Rain Vortex, a mesmerising 40m high waterfall decorated with light and sound shows after dark.

Take some time to just sit and watch. You won’t be disappointed.
