Today was a day of driving. We needed to get down to Point Samson and make up a little bit of time after spending an extra day in Broome. It’s about 834km’s, so if you are doing that distance, you can expect it to take up most of the day, particularly once you add in
I know a lot of people are sceptical about booking another cruise on board a cruise ship, and rightly so. We were sceptical as well, even after deciding to give it a try, the first cruise we booked on board seemed like it was more expensive than the deal that was running when we got off the ship. After some further research and calls with Royal Caribbean, I finally figured it out.
If there is one thing you do in Australia besides Uluru/Ayers Rock, it’s the Horizontal Falls. Located at Talbot Bay in the Kimberley region of northern Western Australia, I don’t think there is anything quite like this anywhere else. Day 5 was a welcome change. After 5 days of driving long distances, it was nice to spend the entire day just in Broome exploring the sights there. We got to watch the sunrise over Roebuck Bay looking back towards the West Australian coast.
Day 4 is one of the few days where we doubled back on ourselves. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to go to Derby and not double back while staying on sealed roads. If you get this far, it is worth taking the detour and heading up to Derby. Derby is located on King Sound
With a helicopter flight over the Bungle Bungles at Purnululu National Park, today’s journey was an exciting trip from Kununurra down to Fitzroy Crossing.
WADay 2, driving from Katherine, NT to Kununurra, WA is long but pretty amazing. We covered about 620km’s, so it was a pretty long day, and there isn’t much of anything along the road. The sunrise cruise at Nitmiluk though was fantastic and well worth doing.
On day 1 of our Darwin to Perth road trip, we picked up our campervan, stopped in at Adelaide River, Pine Creek, Edith Falls and finally arrived at Katherine. It was a long, hot day, but we saw some amazing sights!
To begin our Darwin to Perth road trip (and squeeze as much in between work as possible), we got a late night Jetstar flight from Sydney to Darwin. It departed at 9:00 pm and arrived at 1:05 am in the morning. Hence, since it was so late by the time we left and we were able to do
So, we flew to Darwin, hired a camper van and road tripped to Perth following as close as we could to the coastline within the limitations of the van that required we only use sealed roads with some small exceptions.
